Why does my Vauxhall Corsa's oil light come on when the engine is warm and idle?

When the revs are increased the light goes off until it goes idle again. It only happens once the engine has been running for a bit. In the owner's manual it says "Can light up intermittently when idling with a hot engine. Must go out when engine speed is increased". Seems odd that they'd make the car do this, especially as I only noticed it happening recently.|||Try a service ie:- oil %26amp; especially oil filter change

if the filter is dirty it could cause oil starvation it will damage your cars engine

I hope this could help best wishes|||The light indicates low pressure.

When the engine is hot, the oil gets thinner and the pump needs to work harder to maintain the pressure. So when you rev the engine the light goes out (pressure is increased). If you check the level of oil, you may find that it is low, so top-up using the correct grade of oil. If the light still comes on, get it checked at a garage.|||You don't give the mileage. If it is high it could be wear in the bearings. First do an oil and filter change. if there is no change have a garage hook up an oil pressure guage. There is a manufacturers idle pressure which I seem to remember is ~ 10 lbs at min. If it is lower than it should be it's time to get rid of the car or think about an alternative engine.|||Insufficient oil pressure or faulty oil pressure sender|||because it is a crap switch used by vauxhall get a decent switch fitted and no problem|||Check your oil level.|||interesting, take it to a garage and get them to do a diagnostics test. should come up pretty quick on the test
