Can anyone help I am having trouble with my vauxhall vectra?

Car is a Vauxhall Vectra Preg 1997 1.8ls. The car wont start at all when i turn the key all i hear is a click, I have tried jump starting the car this doesn't work also had alternator checked and is working fine. When i turn the key all ignition lights come on but on all full turn of the key they go off and car does nothing. Could it be the starter motor? Also if anyone knows where the starter motor is located this would really help thank you.|||Does this car have passive anti-theft? If so, is the light flashing when you turn the key on? In the crank position, it is normal for all the lights to go out. This is done to conserve power for the starter motor. But if the pats system is stopping the starter from engaging, the light should be flashing. If not equipped, then a test light at the starter will tell if power is getting to it. As far as where, no bloody clue, never even heard of the car till started answering Ford questions. But a Ford is a Ford, and 12 volts is still 12 volts. Be it UK or America, the same things apply. And good luck!|||You should sell your vectra and get a new car!!!

Hope this helps

The Devil|||sounds like it could be the starting motor. i had similar problems with mine, but i got it started with a bump start. jumping wouldn't work. try that, if it doesn't work then you will probably need a mechanic.|||when you get these kind of problem it could be any 1 of these three.1. Battery charge is low or gone. 2. Starter motor is gone or jammed. 3. The Alternator is not charging. Because you have mentioned that Alternator is fine %26amp; you have tried jump starting it the it leaves with 1 problem the Starter motor, get it checked.|||new starter probably, a bang with a hammer sometimes gets them to work for a day or so, its a thick cylider attached to the engine, cant remember if its underneath or not.. it will have a thick cable attached to it. bump start it with a toe rope and a friends car, wont be more than 拢100 to fix, (over estimated)|||The problem with your vectra could be low battery power, starter solenoid, immobiliser circuit, etc. etc. It is very difficult to give a long range diagnosis and be accurate. If you go to this site I am sure that they will help you if you give them what problem you have and the symptoms. I use this Vauxhall site quite a bit as they are very knowledgeable

http://www.cavweb-forums.co.uk/|||Could be a loose lead from the battery or a faulty solenoid, or worn brushes on the starter motor.

The starter motor will be at the flywheel end of the engine (follow the thick lead from the battery). You should see a drum shaped thing about 4" diameter with a smaller cylinder on top (the solenoid). Sometimes a sharp tap with a hammer will free a "sticky" starter.|||if your battery is o.k and charged.if your ignition lights dim when you turn the key, could be bad earth.or both terminals on the battery corroded.|||it sounds like u have a completely dead battery or it just needs to be charged and yes it could be the starter i cant help u on where the starter is located though because i dont know thouse cars but try a new battery srry i cant help any more than i did|||this sounds the same problem i had with my corsa. car was fine, went in to a shop came back and car would not start. when i started to turn key the lights came on but on full turn they went off and just got clicking noise.

my battery was gone and was fine after got new one fitted.hope your problem is as simple as mine was|||Sounds like a completely dead battery. If you tried to jump start in the "normal" way, using the battery terminals, it's possible for the shorted battery to stop the current getting to the starter. There's probably a minimal residual amount of power left, which is powering the dash lights, but this goes as soon as you try to operate the starter.|||from the information given it would seem that it is your starter solonoid that is giving you trouble, this is located on the starter as i recall however you would have to replace the whole starter.|||The starter is at the back of the engine bolted to the gearbox, your problem could be a bad earth lead to rule this out connect a jump lead to the negative side of you battery and the other end to a metal part of the engine then see if the engine will start .|||yep its your starter motor i'm afraid check all the terminals going to it, it is situated at either the front (usuall near the bottom in the middle) or at the back of the engine under the manifold which makes life a bugger when it comes to changing it. follow the live wire from you battery it should branch off to it.|||I would say that the problem is a faulty starter solenoid switch which is mounted on top of the starter motor. then again it could be a loose wire on the starter motor.
